Work and love

Having faith in our work is hard on a good day; it’s work in itself. Having faith—not seeing results but stubbornly believing good things will happen from this time, clocking in, putting in the hours—on frustrating days when nothing works at all: now that is faith hard at work! For this time I go to heartmending songs like “The Blessing” (the live version where Kari Jobe introduces the song she and a few others had just written). Within minutes everyone in the building is wrapped up in it with 1000s of roaring, rolling, healing, singing Amens that —you can see —stung the singer-songwriters on the stage with love. This happened just before the pandemic hit. I think that was good timing, for the musicians to work behind the scenes to write a song of enormous blessing for us, just before we needed it.
