Morning beach report

Sea gulls, seals and sea lions surf in the surf with surf perch. They all turn toward Luke and me when we walk past, as if we are the party-parade, not them. Pelican rows overhead, so high, large, and black and white I first mistake it for a bald eagle. Some kind of jellyfish species—dozens of clear, gelatinous beach-goers—plop on the sand, only yards apart. Gratitude wins the day for the grit that stays with me, in between my toes, through car travel and rough toweling off, falling finally when it hits living room rug, reminding me even in a sheltering-in I live near a pretty cool beach.
